Skirts’n’Wolves in 2021: Huzzah!

Hello, 2021! The number is going to need some getting used to.

I just wanted to check in real quick about the state of Skirts’n’Wolves (the blog) and the wolf behind it (that’s me!) in the following few months. I’m sticking to the weekly Wednesday posts, not only because I’ve been doing them for over a year now (take that, baby wolf blogger from the early 2000s!), but because I’m really having a lot of fun here at the blog.

In 2021, though, the actual Skirts’n’Wolves blog will finally become what I’d hoped it might be, one day—the engine behind my official writing page overall. You might’ve noticed the recent site redesign and domain rename—sorry for the empty emails late in December, if you’re a subscriber! I had some, er, technical issues—and I hope it makes the blog and the page altogether a little easier to use and much easier to navigate. The building blocks are still being shifted around, and if you find dead-end links and missing page titles, that’s all on me. The biggest change for me personally is probably the fact that I can now link all my fiction directly—thanks for a few minutes spent putting everything in its own page—which is a kind of a big personal milestone. (I have no idea why it feels like it, but it does.)

Back to the writing business! I didn’t set any writing decisions for 2021—or any kind of decisions, actually—but I did make a few writing-related choices. A big one was sticking just to one series throughout 2021, the Ranger Paraversum. I will have two novels, two novellas and one short story, set in the same setting—well, as much as it can be, since it’s a parallel universe setting, bwahahaha—published in 2021. I’m not counting the stuff I might write on the side—stuff I’m hoping to write on the side—which will probably not be plentiful, but which I predict ending up all over the place, setting-wise.

As for 2020 in retrospect, I must admit that getting one short story, one novella and one novel out in two months was… fun? Yes, ‘fun’ is definitely the word I’m looking for. Not ‘scary’. Or ‘borderline insane’. Nope, fun. If you’d like to take a look at what I’ve been up to during the weirdest year of our lives, here’s a quick overview. (The only pre-2020 title is Izazov krvi, my precious debut baby from 2017.)

I may not have decisions for 2021, but I sure as hell have a lot of hopes. I hope we collectively manage to write as much as we want to, this year. I hope my friends in central Croatia stop getting woken up by earthquakes every single morning—and I hope it happens soon. I hope, after all, that the various national health organizations do step up and have everyone vaccinated as soon as bloody possible. There’s been enough loss.

On that note, I think that’s a wrap for the first Wednesday of 2021! If you’d like to stay in touch, find me on Insta, Goodreads, Twitter or FB. (If you have a strict no-cats-on-puzzles policy, it’s probably better that you… don’t.) See you this Friday on social with my first cover reveal of 2021 (Girls in Black!) and here on the blog next week with a small celebration of winter, since it’s only just starting, weather-wise, in these parts.

Thanks for sticking around!
